Writing a sympathy message can be quite hard at times. It can be difficult to put our feelings and memories of the deceased into words. It can also be hard to find the right way to console and talk to the family. If you are stuck with trying to think of what to say there are many sympathy message examples below that will help.

How to Write a Sympathy Message

First of all, you will want to express your knowledge and sadness about the news. A simple message like “I was saddened to hear about John’s passing” will be sufficient.

Next, you will want to write more about your grief over the loss and express your condolences to the family.  You can write a phrase like “My heart goes out to you and your family in this time of sorrow” or “Please accept my condolences for the loss of my good friend, and your sister, Jane”.

Next, write something that you know about the deceased that you treasure and what he or she meant to you. It could be something they said or a memory of something you did together. This shows the family how important the deceased was to you.

Finally you may to offer a helping hand then conclude with another simple message of condolence. If you are in the position to do so, it is nice to offer to provide for whatever the family needs during this difficult time. For example, if they need someone to help clear up stuff and old memories, or buy groceries and do household chores, you can offer yourself to help them. Finally, conclude the card with a simple condolence sentence like “We are praying for you during this difficult time” or “Your loved one’s memory will live on in the hearts of everyone he or she knew forever”.
