Sample Obituary FormatWriting an obituary for someone you love is a difficult task, especially if you have never written one before. This sample obituary format will guide you step-by-step through writing a heartfelt obituary for the one you loved.

The start of the obituary is this most important section because it announces the death. Next, it is common to include the funeral service details and information on any other memorial services. Following this you should write about their personal history, including education, hobbies, interests, and more. Next, you will want to list the predeceased and surviving family members. Finally, in closing you should list where memorial donations can be sent and condolences left.

The following sample obituary format should be all that you need to write a heartfelt obituary. If you need further help we have a number of other obituary templates and obituary writing guides.
